After having just rebuilt my motor with Weisco forged pistons, I can think of only one drawback, and it's not really a drawback. But, I have learned that once you have forged pistons, it's more critical than ever to let the motor get up to operating tempratures before you put any real load on it. I had a big time smoke problem, it turned out to be just the fact that the thing was getting blow-by while driving it cold, and I don't even mean stone cold, the temp needs to be at 170+ for a few min before you really get on it. The problem was exaggerated for me because I had a bad thermostat that only let the car get up to 145 degrees, and I have been driving it in freezing tempratures. Most of the smoke occured when 1) the motor was cold 2) while decelerating in gear. If I drive it very easy when cold, and coast down to lights in neutral I have no smoke. Now I have a nice fresh new thermostat and once it's warmed up, there is no smoke under any driving conditions. Other than that I love them, they are lighter & stronger, came with the low friction coating on the skirts and I think they actually have slightly more compression than stock which is supposed to help with low end power.
